By allowing those who live in town to meet people who structure the town, the Festival des Architectures Vives has, since 2006, found a way to involve people into becoming more aware of architecture. Now, the 5th Festival of Lively Architectures will take place from 17th to 20th June 2010 in Montpellier. This festival offers young architects to propose, think, investigate and experiment new fields of architectural design in relation with the classic town.

From 17th to 20th june 2010, about 11 lively architectures dreamed and conceived by architects will take place in the courtyards of private mansions in the center of Montpellier, France.

Each architecture is conceived for the festival and will answer the thematic set for this new edition of the festival "Between Shadow and Light".

In the courtyard of the private mansion, the creatives will be allowed to have a global view about architecture in an urban context. They should also show the creation of an intimate relation between contemporary architecture and a site with strong patrimonial character. Montpellier City and the region, Languedoc Roussillon, have an architectural heritage that is very rich and drives a certain curiosity to it. From this curiosity a dialogue of architecture can begin.
