Displaying Projects Effectively in a Cool Showroom in Tokyo

Spinning Objects by TORAFU ARCHITECTS
This is a renovation project for a hotel fixture showroom. The showroom displays a huge amount of goods and if the numbers are ever increased, the space is designed to be spatially and visually pleasing.

"We aimed to design a strong space which could display many of the same kinds of products effectively and which could bear new additions without there needing to be alterations to structure or interference with the design."

"We proposed a series of showcases “spinning objects” like dancers spinning or a potter’s wheel in motion. By displaying the items upon the circular case they become one with the “spinning object”, this creates an illusion like an after image. Along the wall the distorting mirror causes a reflective effect which causes the items again to melt into their surrounding space.

Looking at the overall space, the “spinning objects” are expanded by reflecting on the ceiling and the floor, this unusual scene leaves a strong impression."
