“SUN” can feel time. It’s a simple clock which follows the SUN with its 24 hours (starting with sunrise and ending with sundown). The SUN changes its color depending on the time of the day, that is if it’s AM or PM. It can be used as “World Clocks” if more than two clocks are placed on a wall.
This land was once the site of Nishihachijo-palace, which was the residence of a hero of the Japanese classical tragedy, “Tale of Heike.” It was a stage of rise and fall of a clan in the 12th century. Such an old and sad memory is cherished and still told among the people of this neighborhood.
Steven Holl Architects wanted to do experiments in porosity and decided to take on the Porosity project. Random porosity involves a non-linear repetition of individual components in varying scales, while recursive porosity employs mathematical strategies to generate infinitely complex patterns.
